How successful is the program?

Very! But only if all other causes of feeding refusal and fussy feeding behavior have been either ruled out or remedied before starting the program. And only if the parent strictly follows my feeding rules and recommendations, which took Rowena over 10 years to refine.

Based on over 3000 cases where Rowena provided bottle-feeding aversion consultations—which helped the parents to rule out other potential causes and clarify their understanding of the feeding rules, the success rate was around 95%. Of those who did not succeed, most admitted that high anxiety levels prevented them from following Rowena's feeding rules and recommendations.

How long will it take for my baby to settle independently?

The time it takes to sleep train a baby varies based on the method used, the baby’s temperament, baby's age, and the parents' consistency. Many babies show significant improvement within 3 to 7 nights, while most adapt to their new sleep habits within 1 to 2 weeks. However, some babies, especially those more sensitive to change, may take up to a month to fully adjust. Factors like sleep associations, developmental milestones, inconsistent implementation can extend the process. Success depends on patience, commitment, and maintaining a clear, consistent practice.

What sort of settling methods do you use?

We follow responsive settling techniques (not cry-it-out methods), which focus on helping babies learn to sleep while allowing parents to provide reassurance and support. This method encourages parents to respond to their baby’s cues in a way that fosters independent sleep while still offering comfort when needed. Some crying is to be expected, as adjusting to new sleep habits can be challenging for babies, but rather than leaving them to cry alone, parents are guided on how to respond appropriately—offering soothing, reassurance, and presence in a way that promotes self-settling. Our goal is to create a gentle, structured approach that builds confidence for both babies and parents while developing healthy, long-term sleep habits.

Is it possible for my baby's sleep to be 'unfixable'?

In theory, all normal, healthy babies can learn to sleep independently. However, it’s important to identify and address any underlying factors contributing to their sleep challenges. Parents play a key role in shaping their baby’s sleep experience, and their commitment to the process is essential.

Learning to sleep independently isn’t an instant fix—it requires parents' consistency, patience, and trust in the approach. At times, the process may feel challenging, especially when baby is learning to settle a new way, this takes time to adjust. However, by staying committed to the program, parents can help their baby develop healthy, lasting sleep habits allowing them to get the rest they need.

What if my baby is due for vaccinations during the program?

Vaccinations are notorious for adversely affecting a baby's appetite and sleep.

Ideally, you would plan to have scheduled vaccinations at least 5 days before starting the program or after completing the program.

My baby is currently unwell, can we still do the program?

Illness can disrupt a baby's appetite and sleep. If your baby is unwell, it’s best to focus on their recovery first before beginning the program, ensuring they have the best chance for success.
